The government is stepping up efforts to combat youth unemployment and facilitate their professional integration.
In the Grands-Ponts region, many young women have achieved financial independence thanks to the Income-Generating Activities Financing Program, Agir pour les jeunes.
Andréa Konan, in her early thirties, has been raising and selling broiler chickens in Grand-Lahou since 2020. In 2022, she applied for funding from the Youth Employment Agency (Agence Emploi Jeunes). Her project was selected, and she underwent training before receiving a loan of 960,000 FCFA. With this financial support, granted in 2024, Andréa was able to boost her business.
“I went from 400 batches of chickens to 750 in just a few months. This assistance allows me to supply more wholesalers and make a significant profit,” she explains.
In Jacqueville, Férima Diallo transitioned from managing a photocopying service to owning a small printing business. She received 700,000 FCFA in funding.
“I bought a laser printer to modernize my business and diversify my services,” she says.
According to the Ministry of Youth Promotion and Professional Integration, as of February 2025, the Grands-Ponts region had 5,368 young beneficiaries of professional integration programs and project funding. These initiatives are part of the Youth Employment Agency‘s framework and the government’s Youth Program (PJgouv), launched in 2023.
