Mawa McQueen is an Ivorian-born chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur who has conquered the culinary world of Aspen, Colorado, with her award-winning restaurants and unique Afro-fusion cuisine. Born and raised in Côte d’Ivoire, Mawa overcame the challenges of poverty and the responsibility of being the eldest of 20 siblings to pursue her dreams. After attending culinary classes in Paris and working as an au pair in London, Mawa moved to the United States through the Green Card lottery. She initially worked in renowned restaurants like the White Barn Inn and the Little Nell, honing her culinary skills and refining her unique vision of cuisine.
In 2006, Mawa launched her private chef and catering business, which eventually evolved into Mawa’s Kitchen in 2015. This restaurant, known for its fresh, locally sourced cuisine inspired by her African, French, and American roots, quickly gained critical acclaim and a loyal customer base.
