The Technical Alliance for Development Assistance (ATAD), in partnership with Christian Aid, is organizing a capitalization workshop on the “Fostering gender just recoveries” project from September 25 to 26, 2024 in Ouagadougou. The opening ceremony of the workshop took place this Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
After 2 years of implementing the project “Fostering gender just recoveries” , it is time to take stock. Josephine Nandnaba, Senior program officer gender at Christian Aid, says she has noticed a change in the environment.
“After 2 years of implementation, we can say that there has been a change in the environment, because this project had 3 components, learning, mobilization and advocacy ,” she said. According to her, there are reasons for satisfaction. “There are reasons for satisfaction. We note a sustained commitment from civil society to carry out advocacy ,” she confided.
She went on to suggest that training and capacity building in terms of equitable macroeconomics, gender-sensitive budgeting, and advocacy have helped bring together civil society with the support of the two ministries in charge of gender-sensitive budgeting in Burkina Faso. “This mobilization is a great experience that we have had with civil society in Burkina Faso ,” she said in short.
Overall, there is a dynamic of common interest and constant commitment from the project stakeholders. This has facilitated, according to Christian Aid and its implementing partner the Technical Alliance for Development Assistance (ATAD), the construction of an advocacy that resulted in the development of two advocacy letters to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and to the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT).
This workshop, in addition to reporting to stakeholders on the results of the project, also aims to share experiences and knowledge with stakeholders, draw lessons and formulate recommendations.
Sakré Moussa Sawadogo, Director of Gender Promotion at the Ministry of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, welcomed the actions of Christian Aid, which aim at national advocacy for the improvement of gender-sensitive budgeting in our country.
“I urge you to firmly maintain the advocacy, which will undoubtedly contribute to improving the condition of women and vulnerable groups in Burkina Faso ,” he invited all participants before officially opening the workshop.
