To strengthen the fight against sexual violence, the Togolese government, through the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, has introduced 1014, a toll-free number dedicated to reporting cases of rape and attempted rape.

A Service Available Around the Clock

This service, operational 24/7, allows citizens to securely and confidentially contact law enforcement. Hosted at the Ministry of Security, the call center is designed to efficiently handle emergencies. It can manage up to five simultaneous calls, ensuring swift assistance to victims or witnesses.

A Tool for Prevention and Protection

The toll-free number is part of the government’s strategy to prevent sexual violence, protect victims, and foster a safer environment for everyone. According to a Ministry official, 1014 provides concrete support to victims and serves as an effective means to gather information for prosecuting perpetrators.

Breaking the Silence on Sexual Violence

Beyond immediate assistance, 1014 also aims to raise awareness about the importance of reporting such acts. The service encourages citizens to actively participate in combating sexual violence by reporting any suspicious situations observed in their communities.

A Commitment to a Safer Society

Through this initiative, Togo reaffirms its determination to fight gender-based violence and promote respect for human rights. The Ministry of Security and Civil Protection urges the population to use this service without hesitation and to support victims in coming forward.

This project marks a critical step toward building a safer, more inclusive, and dignified Togolese society.
